Gentle first visits
Your puppy's first groom in Miami, done gently.
A first groom is as much about teaching as trimming. Short, calm visits with a bath, light trim and nail clip help a puppy learn that grooming is safe.
What shapes the price and success of a first groom.
Start once your puppy has had the vaccines the groomer requires, and keep the first visits short and positive.
- Puppy packages are usually cheaper than adult grooms because the visits are shorter and the dog is small.
- Most groomers require current vaccines, so ask what proof they need before booking.
- Breeds with fast-growing curly coats benefit from an early start so mats never get a foothold.
- A groomer who takes time with the dryer and clippers may charge a little more but sets your puppy up for life.
- Practice at home with gentle paw and ear handling, and bring a few small treats to make the visit easy.
- Plan repeat visits every few weeks at first so the routine becomes normal.

When can my puppy have a first groom?
Many groomers will see puppies after their core vaccines, often around 12 to 16 weeks. Your vet can tell you what is safe for your puppy, and the groomer will list its own requirements.
How much does a puppy groom cost in Miami?
Typical puppy visits run about $40 to $75, depending on breed, coat and what is included. Mobile visits cost more.
How do I prepare my puppy?
Handle paws, ears and mouth daily, introduce a brush early and let your puppy hear a hair dryer from a distance. Keep the first appointment short.
What if my puppy is scared?
Tell the groomer up front. A good groomer will slow down, take breaks and stop before your puppy is overwhelmed.
